Five police officers from Roeland Park and Fairway raided a party last week inside a home whose owner had recently died and cited 31 teens for trespassing.
Roeland Park Police Chief John Morris said the teens gained entry to the house Thursday night because one had a key to the home from his job at an estate sale company.
“There was an estate sale there at one time and one of the employees had a key,” Morris said. “He had an unauthorized juvenile party there.”
A neighbor said the owner of the house on Clark Drive where the party took place had died about two weeks ago.
Morris said when police arrived the teens locked the doors and turned off the lights. The officers had to summon the son of the late owner help them enter the house.
“Thirty-one teens were involved and all got trespassing notices,” Morris said.
