Shawnee Mission East improved its record to 13-0-1 with a physical win over Lee’s Summit High Saturday in the 810 Varsity Best of the Midwest Soccer Showcase.

The 3-2 win sets up a showdown for the Sunflower League title Tuesday evening against Olathe East.

Despite having a stiff wind at its back in the first half Saturday, East couldn’t score until senior Will Krebs blasted in a shot from 30 yards out with 25 seconds left to play. A minute into the second half, junior Tommy Nelson scored off a cross from senior Tommy Kerr. And midway through the second half, senior Oliver Bihuniak struck a goal from the top of the penalty box.

Lee’s Summit followed with two goals, one off a corner kick and one off a long throw in. But East held on for the win.
The Lancers next play Sunflower League co-leader Olathe East at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Shawnee Mission North.
