Roeland Park officers going in uniform. Roeland Park police officers working off-duty at events in the city will be required to wear their uniforms and official equipment including their weapon following approval  by the City Council Monday. The new policy is being implemented at the request of Police Chief John Morris, who said most off-duty work done by his officers is for events at Bishop Miege High School and St. Agnes Catholic Church. Previously, officers working off-duty only wore a shirt or other clothing item that indicated they were on security. “I think it sets a positive example to see a police officer there instead of a security guard,” Morris said.
