Cookies for first responders. The Lutheran Church of the Resurrection in Prairie Village marked the 15th anniversary of the 9-11 attacks Sunday by baking and delivering approximately 1,000 cookies to fire and police stations across the metro. The church visited stations in Prairie Village, Leawood, Mission, Overland Park and several other spots across the metro area. The congregation marked the annual day of service to say thank you to “the men and women who have our backs everyday.”

October 18 last day to register to vote. If you want to vote in the general election this November, then you must register by Oct. 18 Registration can be done online or in person at a number of locations around Johnson County.

Coffee with a Cop Friday. The next Mission Police Department Coffee with a Cop session will be held starting at 8 a.m. Friday at Twisted Sisters Coffee Shop. Coffee and donuts are on the agenda.

News businesses in Mission. Several permits regarding new businesses or business changes have been issued in Mission. A dental office is planned for 5929 Broadmoor, formerly Donz Liquor. Mission Mart has two permits for tenant finishes for KC Wellness and Ovations Dance Studio. Grand Liquor in Mission Mart is moving across the street to the former All Weather Window and Door location.

SM North student part of youth symphony. Ella Kim, a SM North student, is a member of the Kansas City Youth Symphony. The symphony recently played at Shawnee Mission Park before the Kansas City Symphony performance.
