People: I’ve been to a Lancer Day or two in my time. And I can tell you that from top to bottom — from the weather, to the floats, to the relative concentration of sheer pro-Lancer emotion hovering over the crowd — 2016 will be one to remember.

If you missed it, check out the varied and myriad photos we took. If you were there, look at them and recall fondly a wonderful early fall community gathering.

And if you didn’t get enough community camaraderie this afternoon, the merriment will continue this evening when SM East’s football team opens up its 2016 tonight against Sunflower League rival Olathe South at Shawnee Mission North District Stadium. Kick off is at 7 p.m. Paint the stand blue, Lancer fans.

*It sounded loud.

**It smelled pretty much like it normally does along Mission Road. Which is to say there was a pretty standard, fairly unremarkable scent that doesn’t really stand out.
