Two workers were hospitalized Wednesday after a second-floor exterior wall they were erecting at a house being built at 5541 Falmouth Road in Fairway collapsed, pinning one briefly in the debris.

Fairway Police Chief Mike Fleming said police and emergency medical personnel were summoned at 9:35 a.m. to the partially-completed house. He said five workers were erecting the upper floor wall when the accident occurred.

“The wall either collapsed or fell on the five people putting it up, only two were hurt,” Fleming said. “One person was briefly trapped but was freed by co-workers.”

The injured men, both in their 20s, were transported to St. Luke’s Hospital on the Plaza with non-life threatening injuries, although Fleming described one of the men as “broken up pretty badly…he will be there for awhile.”
