The Mission Police Department Coffee with a Cop program draws usually draws a crowd to Twisted Sisters Coffee Shop. Today was no exception. But part of this morning’s crowd was also there to pay tribute to the police force and its community outreach.

Twisted Sisters surprised Mission Chief Ben Hadley with a wooden flag that included The Thin Blue Line, honoring police officers and their service. The flag, was made by Marcus Hansen. Marcus is a Mission resident and husband of Nancy Hansen, who owns Twisted Sisters along with her sister, Sandi Russell.

“We love being part of the community and working with the police department,” said Russell. “It shows their human side. That’s why we love Coffee with a Cop.”

The Mission police usually host Coffee with a Cop at Twisted Sisters each month. Doug Gregg of Answer Pro, a Mission business, has been paying for the free coffee at the events.

“She’s let us come into her home every month,” Hadley said in thanking Russell and Gregg for helping police put on the event. The flag will hang in the police department next to the mission statement so officers see it every day on their way out, Hadley said.
