Will Brant will start eighth grade at Indian Hills Middle School tomorrow. Last week, though, he was in Ft. Meyers, Florida, playing baseball with some of the most talented youngsters in the country.

Brant was selected to represent the Midwest in the Perfect Game 13 and under national tournament based on his standout performance at a tournament in Georgia back in April. The Midwest team, which had players from Kansas, Missouri, Iowa and Nebraska, was one of 17 in the tournament, and went 6-1 in pool play. The Midwest ultimately advanced to the title game, defeating a team from the Carolinas to take the tourney crown.

Brant finished the tournament with a .500 batting average, the second highest on the team. He also pitched three times, never giving up an earned run. He even earned a game MVP for his hitting and pitching against a team from the Southwest.

Brant’s mom Tara says Will hopes to play for SM East when he reaches high school.
