We meant to get this out there sooner, but have been waiting for confirmation of the winners of this year’s VillageFest Pie Baking Contest, held on the Fourth of July in Prairie Village.

So without any further ado…bow before these pie lords:

Fruit

1. Shelby Ross of Prairie Village
2. Isabel Cristofani of Prairie Village
3. Marianne Noll of Prairie Village

Non-Fruit

1. Debra Nixon of Olathe
2. Brenda Doyle of Prairie Village
(There were only two submissions in this category)

Youth

1. Olivia Zender of Prairie Village
2. Charlotte Zender of Prairie Village
3. Josie Gowen of Prairie Village

And the winner of the coveted Best in Show prize: Olivia Zender and her famous peach pie. That’s right folks: The youth winner beat out all of the other submission for best in show.

“This is the second year in a row that the Best in Show winner was from the Youth¬†category,” notes organizer Susan Forrest. “The kids aren’t just gaining on us, they are taking over!”
