Indian Hills Country Club swimmers and divers are hoping they can again find top of the podium at the Country Club Swim Association of Kansas City Swim and Dive Championships.

The Indian Hills team broke a 24-year winning streak by Country Club of Leawood/Leawood South Country Club back in 2011 and then took the metro-wide title again in 2012. But since then, the Country Club of Leawood team has been back in dominant form, winning the CCSAKC title the past three years. Last year, it was Kansas City Country Club that gave Leawood its toughest challenge, coming in second place.

But this year, Indian Hills looks like it might have the best shot at pushing Leawood for the title. Indian Hills finished the diving championships in first place with 171 team points. Leawood is fourth at 122 points and KCCC is ninth with 31 points. That padding may give Indian Hills an important edge as the A-level swim competition gets under way this morning. Indian Hills also has one of the best young swimmers in the Kansas City area, Bishop Miege’s Cailey Grunhard, competing for it.

However, Country Club of Leawood this year also has the advantage of swimming in its home pool.

Preliminary heats begin at 9:30 this morning. Finals will start at 9:30 a.m. Friday.

Results are being posted on the CCSAKC website.
