A 27-year-old man is facing three counts of aggravated assault after what police describe as a road rage incident that got quickly out of hand in the parking lot of the Cinemark movie theatre in Merriam Sunday.
At around 3 p.m. Sunday, police received a call saying that a man had pulled a gun on a family after a dispute over a parking space in the lot. Officers arrived on the scene and arrested Jose Garcia, Jr. According to Merriam police, Garcia became enraged when the other car — carrying two adults and their teenager — tried to pull into a parking space that Garcia had been hoping to take.
Garcia was booked in Johnson County Jail with bail set at $10,000 on Sunday and released on Monday.
A preliminary hearing in the case is set for next Thursday, July 21 in Johnson County Court.
