A recent ranking of the “Best Suburbs to Live” by Niche, a website that crunches data to provide easy-to-use information about cities, schools and colleges, bolsters the notion that Johnson County — and northeast Johnson County in particular — is among the best places in the country to live and raise a family.

Seven Johnson County cities were named to the top 100 suburbs in the U.S. Westwood was the top-performing local city in the rankings, coming in at 15 nationally. Fairway and Prairie Village weren’t far behind, at 23 and 26, respectively. Here’s where every Johnson County city on the list fell:

  1. 15: Westwood
  2. 23: Fairway
  3. 26: Prairie Village
  4. 41: Overland Park
  5. 49: Roeland Park
  6. 54: Leawood
  7. 76: Mission

The rankings, which looked at statistics from more than 8,700 suburbs nationally, took a number of factors into account. Cost of living, education level and public schools were the most heavily-weighted factors. You can check out the rankings methodology here.
