The months-long work to gather input from stakeholders and the public about their vision for a new county park on the Meadowbrook Country Club grounds and turn it into a plan that could be put into action has earned Johnson County Park and Recreation District some national recognition.

The National Association of County Park and Recreation Officials (NACPRO) announced this week that JCPRD had earned its Planning Initiative award for the project.

County representatives will receive the award at a ceremony July 23 in Long Beach, Calif.
