Community America Credit Union’s branch in the Prairie Village Hy-Vee re-opened Friday morning after being shut down six days for a complete reconstruction and transformation to a new banking concept.
While all of the staff has returned to the credit union branch, they will be acting more as financial consultants, said Amy Grothaus, the vice president for branch services. The teller lines have been replaced with video tellers that are more interactive.
Every banking function can be performed at the branch, including mortgages and loans, but “the teller drawer is the ATM now, Grothaus said. Customers using the teller machines can get help with a transaction connecting by video with a live customer service person during certain hours. This is the third Community America branch to move to the new concept.
The new concept is dubbed a “Community Financial Center.”
