The Mission Planning Commission this week approved a final site plan for The Bar on Johnson Drive.
The proposal will add 531 square feet and 35 more seats in an addition on the west side of the current building. The added seating capacity will expand the 84 seats the present building holds. A patio addition will add another 18 seats to the existing 40-seat patio.
The new addition will fill a drive area on the west side of the building to near the property line. It will allow for a separate room from the current space and includes a restroom.
The Bar first opened in the last week of 2014. The building had been a gas station and auto repair before being converted to a bar and grill.
The approval of the final site plan means The Bar can apply for a building permit at any time. The staff report on the filing had recommended approval. A traffic study supported the staff conclusion that parking provided by The Bar and in the immediate area is sufficient to handle customers.
The planning commission packet noted that the owners had considered adding a second story to the building but are not now pursuing that option.
The addition will match the existing building.
