Mission man in jail after setting 75th Street garage on fire

A Mission man remains in Johnson County jail today after being accused of setting fire to the garage of a home of an acquaintance after getting into an argument.

According to Overland Park police, Richard Frank Blanner and the victim got into an argument in the 8600 block of W. 75th Street Wednesday night, after which Blanner set a portion of the victim’s garage on fire. Overland Park fire crews happened to be driving by and saw the blaze. They quickly put it out. No one was injured in the incident.

Blanner was charged with aggravated arson and is being held on $250,000 bond. A preliminary hearing in Johnson County court is set for April 28.
