Rushton student’s Arbor Day Poster wins for northeast Kansas. Nicolas Reed, a Rushton Elementary student, was honored by the Mission City Council Wednesday for his winning Arbor Day poster. Reed’s entry won in Mission and then was chosen over 200 other posters in northeast Kansas to enter the state competition. A tree will be planted in his honor at Water Works Park.

Prairie Village, Overland Park homes among those featured in this weekend’s NARI homes tour. Three of the 22 homes throughout the Kansas City area that will be open this weekend as part of the 19th annual NARI Remodeled Homes Tour are here in northeast Johnson County. The tour features two Prairie Village homes and a northern Overland Park home near 83rd Street and Nall Ave. You can find out more about the tour, which runs Saturday and Sunday, here.

Roeland Park Arbor Day expanded. The Roeland Park Arbor Day celebration has expanded to include a drawing for two gently used bicycles and a bicycle safety course. A football toss with prizes also has been added to the event and the sustainability committee will share information about pollinators. The Arbor Day celebration is April 30 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in R Park.

Moody’s assigns Aaa rating to Prairie Village bonds. A $10.6 million issue of general obligation bonds by Prairie Village has been given a rating of Aaa by Mood’ys Investors Service.
