Indian Hills student Brodie Scott takes second in state meet. Indian Hills student Brodie Scott finished as the runner up in the state 12 and under 110-pound competition last weekend in Topeka. His loss to Fort Riley’s Joshua Pence in the state championship was his first of the year.

Former SM North coach John McFall retires. A head coaching career that began at SM North has come to an end. Former SM North boys basketball coach John McFall has retired after 33-year career that saw him amass a 530-209 record at four schools. Lancers winning streak continues on the diamond. SM East’s top-ranked boys baseball team continued to live up to its top billing Monday with a 5-0 win over SM West. Pitcher Zebulon Vermillion gave up just three hits over 5.2 scoreless innings for the Lancers. Vermillion also went two for four at the plate, driving in two runs. The Lancers take a 3-0 record into their next game, to be played against SM North on Thursday.

Food truck party kicks off Mission Market. The Mission Farm and Flower Market will host a Market Kick-Off Food Truck Party on May 3 from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the market along Johnson Drive in downtown Mission. Five food trucks and The Bar will offer food and drink. Games and prize drawings will be part of the fun. The Market will open for its second season on May 7.
