The stable of talent housed in the SM East dugout heading into the 2016 high school baseball season hasn’t gone unnoticed.

With four players — Joey Wentz, Luke Anderson, Zebulon Vermillion and Jake Randa — already committed to D1 college programs, the Lancers are considered one of the best teams not only in Kansas and the KC metro, but also the country. Collegiate Baseball put the Lancers at number 14 in the nation in a recent pre-season poll. And today, SM East’s boys in Columbia blue will get to test out all that talent on the field.

The Lancers open their season with an away game against perennial contenders Blue Valley at 5 p.m. Pre-season All American Joey Wentz is set to take the hill for the Lancers while Blue Valley ace Will Brennan will throw for Blue Valley.
