Prairie Village resident Nancy Morgan and her son had a memorable encounter with two big birds outside their home near 73rd Street and Cherokee in Prairie Village this week:

My son Henry and I were entertained by a hawk making quite a ruckus flying around our house. I went inside to see if I could get a better view out a north facing window-thinking he possibly had a nest. As I peeked out…I was stunned to see a barred owl looking me right in the eye! We watched him and the hawk for about an hour.
