A popular Prairie Village pet-grooming spot will be adding a new service to its lineup.
Queen of Paws, which moved into a larger spot at 8827 Roe Avenue from its original home in the strip center on 90th Street last summer, received approval from the Prairie Village City Council this month to begin operation of a pet day care in its new space.
The council granted owner Christine Gregory a special use permit that will allow her to provide day care for up to 20 dogs under 20 pounds and up to 15 dogs over 20 pounds each day. The permit restricts the day care primarily to the indoor facilities, with only a 12 foot by 130 foot stretch of grass behind the building open for the animals to use during the day. No more than four animals may use the outdoor area at any given time, and they are only allowed outdoors for “short periods of time sufficient for the animals to relieve themselves.”
