lovey-dovey-2016Roeland Park’s Lovey Dovey Art Mart returns Saturday. If you’re still looking for the perfect gift for your loved one this Valentine’s Day, Roeland Park might have you covered. The city is putting on its second annual Lovey Dovey Art Mart tomorrow at the Roeland Park Community Center, featuring handcrafted gifts for people of all ages. The event will be 1 to 4 p.m. at 4850 Rosewood Drive.

Great Plains SPCA closing Merriam shelter. A Lost Pet and Intake Shelter at 9800 W. 67th Stree in Merriam will close Feb. 26, losing about 100 spaces for animals. Great Plains operates three other locations that will remain open. The Merriam shelter is closing because of its deteriorating conditions. Fairway launches art contest. Participants can stop by city hall to pick up one cotton canvas for a refundable $10 deposit. Any medium can be used for the work which should reflect what the artist loves about living in Fairway. The pieces should be submitted by Feb. 27.
