If the writers and editors at Collegiate Baseball have any idea what they’re talking about, it should be a pretty solid little year for SM East’s baseball team.
The most recent issue featured the paper’s national pre-season poll, listing the top 30 teams from across the country. SM East came in at number 14. No other team from Kansas or Missouri cracked the top 30.
The paper noted that with nine players returning from last year’s third-place team, the Lancers have experience and depth that make them among the toughest competitors in the country. Featuring three DI college commits in Joey Wentz, Zebulon Vermillion and Luke Anderson the Lancers should be formidable both on the mound and in the batter’s box.
Wentz was also named to the paper’s pre-season All-American 1st Team.
SM East will have its first game of the year Tuesday, March 22 against Blue Valley.
