Sec. of State Kris Kobach names Ronnie Metsker new Johnson County Election Commissioner. Former Overland Park Rep. Ronnie Metsker over the weekend resigned his position as chair of the Johnson County Republican Party after seven years as he prepares to be sworn in today as the new Johnson County Election Commissioner. Secretary of State Kris Kobach last week announced he was appointing Metsker to the seat after former commissioner Brian Newby left to head the Election Assistance Commission in Washington, D.C. Metsker was the long-time leader of YouthFront, the Westwood-based faith organization founded by his father. His wife Susan served on the Shawnee Mission Board of Education before leaving to take a position in the office of U.S. Rep. Kevin Yoder. Kansas City Christian’s Callie Eldred commits to play lax in college. Kansas City Christian junior Callie Eldred last week verbally committed to play lacrosse at Lindenwood University in St. Charles, Mo. Eldred is a member of the Shawnee Mission Girls Lacrosse team.

SM North wrestlers show well at home wrestling meet. SM North had a handful of grapplers get to take the podium at this weekend’s SM North Invitational meet. Joe Steve won the 195-lb. division. Cesar Salgado and Nick Carson finished second and third in the 170-lb. and heavyweight divisions, respectively. The Indians finished sixth in the team rankings.
