Friends and neighbors of the family whose minivan was struck Sunday after a Shawnee man ran a red light and hit a truck at the intersection of 75th Street and Metcalf Avenue have set up a GoFundMe campaign to help them pay for medical expenses and a replacement vehicle.

All five members of the Hemenway family were in their 1999 minivan when Raphael Sherman, 21, ran through the intersection as he attempted to evade a police officer. Though none of the injuries sustained by the Hemenway family were life threatening, the youngest daughter, Emma, has already undergone two surgeries to remove glass from her face.

The Hemenways are fixtures at Prairie Village’s Franklin Park, where father Paul takes his three children several times per week.
