Gang, the fresh slate of 2016 has arrived, and with it our annual look at how the site has grown over the past 12 months.
2015 saw us hit a number of major milestones: five full years in business, more than 500,000 users in a calendar year for the first time ever, and more than 2 million page views in a calendar year for the first time ever. What’s more, we saw total traffic jump nearly 25 percent from 2014 to 2015, up to 1,457,510 visits this past year compared to 1,172,431 in 2014.
For a little historical context, here’s a look at traffic growth on the site since our inception in June 2010:
We also conducted our first-ever reader survey with the help of some graduate students at the University of Kansas’s William Allen White School of Journalism and Mass Communication. Among the findings:
- More than 95 percent of readers say they are “satisfied” or “very satisfied” with the coverage we provide
- Nearly 70 percent of readers visit the site at least several times per week
- Nearly 85 percent of readers say shawneemissionpost.com is one of their primary sources for information about what’s happening in our community
