Seay is recognized as an athlete who competed for SM North from 1969 to 1971. He was a two-year letter winner in track and field. In 1971, he was the state champion in the long jump as well as long jump champion at the North Relays and for the Sunflower League. He was undefeated during the 1971 season and had a long jump of 23 feet. 6 1/2 inches. That set a school record that still stands.
Van Gorp is recognized as a coach at SM North where she coached volleyball during the late 1990s and early 2000s. She led the 2002 SM North volleyball team to the 2002 state championship.
Metsker is a Hall of Fame member for Distinguished Service. She is being recognized for her instrumental service as the North area representative on the Shawnee Mission Board of Education and many other contributions to the school community.
The three recipients will be recognized at the Feb. 12 basketball game.
