New Year’s Eve starts early in Roeland Park. Want to get a jump on the New Year celebrations? You can start at noon at the Roeland Park Community Center. Bingo, music, lunch and a balloon drop are part of the action that will run from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Thursday. The cost is $15 per person and pre-registration and payment is required.

Extra trash allowed in Roeland Park, Westwood. All bagged trash in Westwood will be collected without the need for a bag tag for the extra trash on Wednesday this week. Trash pickups this week through Jan. 1 in Roeland Park also will not require the extra bag tags.
