Princess Club and Fairytale Ballet closing at Village Shops

A fixture at The Village Shops for the past decade is closing up shop next week.

The Princess Club and A Fairytale Ballet will have their last day at the shopping center Dec. 30.

“We have had a wonderful 10 and a half years at the Village,” said owner Tanya Waits. “The decision to close and relocating the store was a difficult one, but one that will support my current lifestyle and career needs.”

Waits said she wanted more time to spend with her young familhy and focus on the company’s operations in Chicago, where she has two Fairytale Ballet dance studio locations and one Princess Club retail store. Waits said she intends to find another Kansas City area location for a new Fairytale Ballet studio sometime in 2016, but the location will be outside of Prairie Village. The Princess Club will not reopen in Kansas City, though the store will have an expanding online presence in the coming months.

“When I opened the Prairie Village location, life was a lot simpler,” Waits said. “Now I have an energetic son and two additional dance studios in Chicago which are quite demanding. I’m looking forward to relaxing a bit and spending more time with my son, so the decision to close and relocate is truly bittersweet.”
