Sluggerrr to help flip the switch at Mayor’s Tree Lighting in Prairie Village. 2015 marks the 30th anniversaries of two pretty awesome events: The Royals 1985 World Series Championship and the inaugural Prairie Village Mayor’s Holiday Tree Lighting. And this year Prairie Village residents will get to acknowledge both — plus, oh yeah, THIS YEARS’ WORLD SERIES CHAMPIONSHIP. Royals mascot Sluggerrr will be a special guest at this year’s tree ceremony, which will start at 6 p.m. next Thursday, Dec. 3.

Johnson County Museum’s “All-Electric House” holding final display in Shawnee. The Johnson County Museum’s All-Electric House will be open Nov. 28 to Jan. 2 for the annual “A Very Fifties Christmas Display” before closing to the public in preparation for the facility’s move to the Johnson County Arts and Heritage Center in Overland Park in 2017.

Mission serves 57 families. The annual food collection sponsored by the City of Mission will serve 57 families this year with a full food basket for the Thanksgiving holiday. The food baskets were packed Tuesday at Sylvester Powell Community Center and delivered by volunteers.

Cards for Roeland Park police get more coverage. The gift cards that H&R Block donated for use by Roeland Park police got some coverage on television this week.
