SM North cross country program piles up more honors for 2015 season

The honors keep piling up for the SM Cross Country program in 2015. The Greater Kansas City Cross Country Coaches Association has named Aaron Davidson the girls coach of the year and Belesti Akalu the boys senior runner of the year for the Kansas side.

In addition, Belesti and brother Alex Akalu were named to the boys first team and Amber Reed and Samantha Taylor were named to the girls first team. Katie Kasunic and Cassie Raines were named to girls honorable mention and Noah Stevenson was a boys honorable mention. Both the boys and girls teams finished second in the metro team rankings.

SM East boys also had three members make honorable mention: Lance Meng, Jack Young and John Arnspiger.

Belesti won the state cross country title this year and Alex finished seventh. The SM North girls finished third as a team and SM East boys finished third in team standings.
