Come December 31, a northeast Johnson County institution will be leaving the space it’s called home since the late 1980s.
Oz’s Maq Donuts House owner Maq Qadir said he had received notice from his landlord that his space in the Ranchmart South shopping center would no longer be available to him at the end of the year. He said he’s been told that Dewey’s Pizza, a chain with locations throughout Ohio and in the St. Louis area, is looking to move into the building.
But Qadir said his donut shop isn’t going out of business. He’s working with leasing agents to identify a nearby space, and is currently looking at a spot near the 95th Street and Nall Avenue shopping developments.
Qadir operated the shop as a Winchell’s Donuts franchise for his first years before switching over to the Oz’s Maq name.
