Mayor’s Holiday Tree Lighting set for Dec. 3 in Prairie Village. A Prairie Village annual tradition is just weeks away. The city of Prairie Village last week sent out a Save the Date for its Mayor’s Holiday Tree Lighting ceremony at Corinth Square. The event will be Thursday, Dec. 3, from 6 to 7 p.m. this year. Crash closes traffic lane. The right lane of west 75th Street in Merriam will be closed at Grandview for utility pole maintenance following a traffic crash. The lane is expected to be closed most of the day.

SM East putting on “Celebrating Differences” diversity presentation. SM East’s PTSA on Wednesday will host a panel discussion on diversity and fostering an environment of understanding at the school. Teacher David Muhammad will moderate the event. The presentation will start at 7 p.m. this Wednesday, Nov. 18, in the SM East Auditorium.

SM North students selected for honor band. Several SM North students were selected for the Northeast Kansas District Honor Band. The will audition for the state band in January. Those selected included: Harrison Boldt – junior: 3rd chair tuba; Noah Bryan – senior: 3rd chair tuba; Christian Damian – senior: 10th chair clarinet; Chloe Mears – sophomore: alternate, 2nd trumpet; Buddy Sayles – senior: 6th chair trumpet; Mariah Stadel – senior: 4th chair bassoon; Billy Winston, senior – 4th chair alto saxophone.
