SM North’s Strolling Strings players entertain at Union Station. SM North’s Strolling Strings group had the chance to entertain hundreds of patrons at Union Station in Kansas City, Mo., Sunday, and meet some Royalty in the process. World Series champion (from 1985) Frank White took a moment to pose for a photo with the group.

SM East, SM North cheerleaders show well at first competition. SM East’s cheer leading team walked away from the Winter Warmup competition at SM West this weekend with a 2 rating – the second highest category — and three awards. The Lancers earned accolades for best stunts and pyramid as well as highest team GPA. SM North matched that effort by earning a 2 rating as well, and earning the Spirit Award.



SM North ROTC team opens season with a win. In one of the bigger competitions of the 2015-16 season in Springfield, Mo., over the weekend, the SM North Navy JROTC team took first place. Of the 11 events of the competition, SM North placed first in six events, second in two and third in one. The competition is one of several qualifying events the team will enter in an attempt to earn the right to participate in the national championships for the 11th straight year.

Auction to support Roeland Park boy with rare condition. Roeland Park’s Bo Macan has a medical conditions so rare that he is the only person who has been diagnosed with it. Even so, he is trying to live a normal life as a six-year-old. A fundraiser later this month will raise money to help pay his medical bills.
