New Roeland Park administrator and family welcomed. This week marked the first city council meeting for new Roeland Park City Administrator Keith Moody. He and his family were welcomed by community members at a reception that preceded the meeting at city hall.

SM East, SM North look to add second district football wins tonight. Both SM East and SM North will be taking the field a day earlier than usual this week, with district games set for the Lancers and Indians. SM East will be taking on Wyandotte at SM South District Stadium with kickoff at 8 p.m. while SM North will face Harmon at SM North District Stadium with kickoff at 8 p.m. Both teams could secure playoff berths with victories Thursday.

Roeland Park leaf pickup starts Nov. 2. The schedule for citywide leaf pickup in Roeland Park is available for each neighborhood. Residents should have their leaves raked to the street one day prior to the final scheduled pickup date. The first leaf pickup will start the week of Nov. 2 and pickups will end on Dec. 9. A map showing the final pickup date for each neighborhood is now available.

Merriam Halloween Happenings Saturday. Merriam will host a Storywalk on the Streamway, inflatables, a costume parade, cookie decorating and more during the Halloween celebration from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Saturday at the Merriam Marketplace.
