With another remarkable team effort on Monday afternoon, the 2015 SM East girls golf team secured an undefeated season and their place in the trophy case at 7500 Mission Road.

The Lancers placed three golfers among the top ten on a blustery day at Terradyne Country Club in Andover to fend off defending champion Washburn Rural and secure their second state 6A title in four years. The wins mark a return to prominence for the girls golf program on the state stage.

Prior to their 6A title in 2012, the Lancers hadn’t taken the top spot on the podium since 1987. This years win marks the sixth title in team history.

SM East was led by Jessica Parker, who finished fourth in the overall standings by shooting an 80. Haley Bell shot an 84 to take seventh place, and Riley Ricket was one of three players to shoot an 87, rounding out the top ten.

The Lancers’ 341 team strokes were 22 better than Washburn Rural, which had to settle for second place this year after having taken the title in 2013 and 2014.

SM East finished the year a perfect 10-0 in tournaments this year.
