A young man was taken to the hospital with minor injuries this morning after the GMC Yukon he was driving around 6 a.m. plowed into a parked car on Oxford Road, smashing two additional vehicles in the process.
Prairie Village Police Captain Byron Roberson said homeowner in the 4300 block of Oxford saw the man running from the scene after they heard the accident and stopped him until officers arrived. Roberson said charges are pending and that alcohol may have been a contributing fact in the incident.
No one was in the parked cars — an Infiniti, a Toyota and a Volkswagen — but all were severely damaged by the impact. The driver sustained only minor injuries, but was loaded into an ambulance at the scene of the accident.
Oxford Road resident Joe Houston said the sound of the impact resonated throughout the neighborhood.
“Crunching metal is about all I heard,” he said. “The guy never hit his brakes.”
