Color and texture mark 2015 State of the Arts winners

Dozens of patrons of the northeast Johnson County arts scene gathered at Prairie Village city hall on Friday for the city’s annual State of the Arts gala. The event culminates with the announcement of the winners of the year’s juried art show, with the top winners receiving cash prizes.

This year’s juror was Larry Thomas, a professor and chair of the Fine Arts Department at Johnson County Community College who has himself displayed original painting, collages and prints at dozens of shows across the country.

This year’s winners were:

R.G. Endres Best in Show Award ($1,000): Jack Nixon, Study in Light and Texture: The Civic Opera Building
