Four Bishop Miege students named to National Merit Scholarship Commended list. Bishop Miege students (pictured from left to right above) Jackson Gress, Victoria Gomerdinger, Maggie Mannebach and Zoey Slettehaugh were recently informed that they were among the select group of students across the country to make the National Merit Scholarship Commended list, recognizing excellent achievement on the PSAT test that fell just short of the Semi-finalist threshold. To make the commended list, you must be among the top 5 percent of PSAT test takers in the nation. Gomerdinger also earned a National Hispanic Scholar Award on account of her PSAT performance.

Teen missing in Merriam found safe. Merriam police issued an alert late Wednesday night looking for a missing 13-year-old juvenile. Just before 5 a.m. this morning, the police department updated that information to say that the juvenile, Semaja Willform, had been found safe and returned home. The earlier release said the girl failed to return home after school. She is an eighth grader who attends school in KCK.

Surveillance video in Roeland Park connected to assault case. An Overland Park man has been charged in two sexual assaults of women in Kansas City. In one of the attacks, the woman ran away but left her purse in the car after she had accepted a ride with the man. Later, surveillance video at the QuikTrip in Roeland Park showed a man using her debit card.
