Bark!toberfest and Oktoberfest kick off the fall season in NEJC on Saturday

Barktober_FestThe first weekend of what now feels like fall gets off to a rousing start in NEJC with Bark!toberfest in Roeland Park Saturday and Oktoberfest in Westwood.

The dog and human celebration gets under way at 11 a.m. and runs to 6 p.m. in R Park at 5535 Juniper. From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. the focus is on the dogs with dog activities and demonstrations. After 1 p.m. humans can enjoy local craft beer tasting (there is also a local craft beer treat for dogs) and live music. Werner’s Fine Sausages will be providing the food.

In case of rain, the celebration moves into the Roeland Park Community Center. Dogs are welcome.

In Westwood, the event runs from 4 to 8 p.m. in Dennis Park and may be a little more human-oriented. Dinner will be available from 5 to 7:30 p.m. from Werner’s again and dessert by Foo’s. Adult and children’s beverages available, live music from 5 to 7 p.m. and inflatables and pumpkin decorating.
