Team: The first (and likely only) Support shawneemissionpost.com campaign has come to a close. And we’re very happy to report that we raised more than $16,000 ($16,350, to be precise) from hundreds and hundreds of readers who value what we do enough to step up and make a donation.
A HUGE, SINCERE THANK YOU TO YOU ALL!
No, we didn’t reach our initial fundraising goal. But the funds you all contributed will help us experiment with new revenue ideas that we hope will move us toward expansion, which, as we’ve mentioned, will be crucial to shawneemissionpost.com’s ability to thrive in the longterm.
Everyone who donated (and correctly answered our trivia question) was entered into our drawing for a $150 giftcard to Story. We used a random number generator to select the winner this morning…and it is: Mike Kennedy of Westwood Hills. Congrats, Mike!
Again, a big thanks to everyone who contributed. Although we’re stable as a two-man operation (read: we’re definitely not going away any time soon), we’re going to need to grow to become a full-fledged news institution for the area. Hyperlocal sites like ours are a new format, and people across the country are still experimenting with how to make them sustainable businesses. With your support from this campaign, we’re confident we’ll be able to reach that level.
(And, if you’re reading this and thinking, “Oh, I meant to donate but never got around to it. Whoops!” we’re keeping the donations page up through the end of the week. No, you won’t be entered into the giftcard drawing, but you will still get the gifts we offered. You can still make your donation here).
