Sign ups open for Little Lancer Cheer Clinic. Area youth interested in finding out what it takes to make the SM East cheerleading squad can once again participate in the Little Lancer Cheer Clinic. Set for Friday, Oct. 9, the event gives kids K-8th grade the opportunity to work with SM East’s varsity cheerleaders. Participants will work on a routine that they’ll perform for parents at the end of the morning, and then will have the opportunity to cheer at the SM East vs. SM North varsity football game Thursday, Oct. 22. SM East golfers keep hot streak going. SM East’s girls golf team took yet another tournament on Monday with a win at the Topeka West Invitational at Topeka Country Club. Marti Fromm, Jessica Parker and Teagan Noblit all finished among the top five competitors in the individual standings, enough to easily outpace second place finisher Washburn Rural.
BARK!toberfest in Roeland Park Oct. 3. You guessed it: beer and dogs (canine and the kind in a bun) combine for a new twist on the traditional Octoberfest celebration. The event on Oct. 3 runs from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. rain or shine with dog activities and demonstrations from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Local craft beer tasting, food, music and more are all part of the day in R Park at 5535 Juniper.
