Garage sales this weekend. Roeland Park starts its city-wide garage sale today so the bargains will be all across town. In Prairie Village, the Prairie Village Homes Association also will be holding its annual garage sale this week.
Recalled cucumbers may have been served in schools. Cucumbers that were part of a recall due to possible contamination with Salmonella may have been served in several of the Shawnee Mission School District schools. The school district has been following guidelines for discarding any remaining product. The cucumbers may have been served at the following schools: Apache, Benninghoven, Briarwood, Brookwood, Comanche, Crestview, Hocker Grove, Marsh, Merriam, Nieman, Overland Park, Rosehill, Rushton, Shawanoe, Shawnee Mission North, Shawnee Mission West, Tomahawk, Trailwood, and Westridge. Cedar Roe, Leawood, Antioch Library, Antioch Park hosting party. The Johnson County Library’s early literacy program is turning six years old and portions of the birthday celebration will take place Saturday at the Cedar Roe Library, the Antioch Library and at Antioch Park. The event kicks off at 10 a.m. with a pre-school story time, followed by chess and checkers at 9 a.m., stories and songs with Kevin Roth at 11:15 a.m., artist Brad Sneed at 1 p.m., all at the Antioch library. At 3:30 p.m. the story mob starts at shelter #3 at the park and story time at 7 p.m. at the park. The Cedar Roe Library will host Eco Elvis from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. At the Leawood Pioneer Library will have instrumentalist Martha Haehl from 1 to 2 p.m. and painting with watercolors from 1 to 3 p.m.
