Potbelly sets opening for Sept. 22. The next restaurant to open in the new Cornerstone Commons development along Johnson Drive at Barkley Street in Mission apparently will be the Potbelly Sandwich Shop. The company has posted a Sept. 22 opening date for the restaurant which will join Pie Five. Two more restaurants in the development are expected to open later this fall: Pepperjax and Five Guys Burgers. Natural Grocers also is part of the development.

Roeland Park city-wide garage sale next week. The fall city-wide garage sale for Roeland Park will be held the weekend of Sept. 10 to 13. No permits are needed for the event.

Dogs can take to the water in Merriam. Merriam joins the cities offering a swim for dogs before the municipal pool closes for the year. The Merriam Pooch Paddle will be held from 6:30 p.m. to 7:45 p.m. Sept. 8. Dogs must be on a leash until they enter the water. The cost is $5 and proof of vaccination is required.

Women shopping at Prairie Village Hen House made fraudulent debit card purchases. A metro area man recently found that his debit card had been compromised and used to make large purchases from grocery stores in Leawood and Prairie Village.
