Latest addition to IKEA area opens. A new Taco Bell is the latest of the businesses to open in the area immediately surrounding the IKEA in Merriam. The Taco Bell is on the Johnson Drive side of IKEA. A new Mattress Firm store also has opened just across from the Taco Bell.

Google Fiber to start work in Mission.  Google Fiber has moved a start date for fiber installation in Mission to the second week in September. Door hangars will be distributed to homes that will be affected by the work. The crews will be working on utility poles or laying underground conduits through yards. They will return later to make the connections to the homes.

Gas line struck along Lamar. A drilling contractor working at 49th and Lamar struck a gas line Friday at 49th and Lamar, closing Lamar temporarily while the gas was shut off. The rupture was repaired Friday afternoon.

Pepperjax opening expected in October. Pepperjax Grill has taken out a new business license for its restaurant at 5922 Barkley in Mission, part of the new Cornerstone Commons project that fronts along Johnson Drive. The restaurant is anticipating an opening around October 28.
