The first of four new restaurant tenants at the Cornerstone Commons development on Johnson Drive in Mission is officially in business.

Pie Five opened its doors on Friday in a space across the parking lot from Natural Grocers, which opened in late June. The growing chain focuses on made-to-order personal sized pizzas. Diners can choose from four different crust types, seven sauces and 28 toppings.

The Mission location is Pie Five’s fourth in the Kansas City metro area. The company has a fifth location under development at Camelot Court in Leawood that is expected to open in September.

The Mission City Council approved a Community Improvement District for the Cornerstone Commons development last year, which paved the way for Christie Development to level the old Keystone Auto Dealership that had sat vacant on Johnson Drive for years.

A PepperJax Grill, Five Guys Burgers and Potbelly Sandwich Shop will open in the development in the coming months.
