Mission’s The Clarette Club set to close Friday, rumors of The Peanut moving in not confirmed

An employee from The Clarette Club at the Mission Mart in Mission confirmed that the popular bar, pool hall and music venue would be closing its doors Friday — but couldn’t say whether rumors that The Peanut would be taking over the space were true.

The Pitch’s Charles Ferruzza reported earlier this month that The Clarette’s days were numbered and that The Peanut was the likely replacement. But Mission Public Information Officer Emily Randel said this week that the city has received no word about the change in tenants. The city has not received a business license application or building permit from The Peanut.

The Peanut, famous for its BLTs, has its original location — the longest continuously operating bar in Kansas City, Mo., just south of the Plaza. It added a location in downtown Overland Park a couple of years ago after Taste restaurant on Santa Fe went out of business.
