The old Mission Hobby Lobby is expected to become a Dollar Tree.

Dollar Tree identified as tenant at old Hobby Lobby. Building plans were submitted to the City of Mission last week for a portion of the store that formerly held the Hobby Lobby between Johnson Drive and Martway. According to the city, a Dollar Tree store is expected to occupy the southernmost 12,000 square feet of the store front. No other major changes to the site or the building exterior were part of the proposal.

Mission police announce suspects apprehended in aggravated robbery. Mission police last week reported that the two suspects sought in an aggravated robbery at a gas station July 22 were taken into custody late last week. The police credit the help of the public in identifying the suspects, a 19-year-old man and a 23-year-old woman, who were arrested with the help of the Kansas City, Kan., police department.

Sylvester Powell pool closed for maintenance. The indoor pool at the Sylvester Powell Community Center will be closed for maintenance starting today. It will open again on Monday, Aug. 31. During that time the competition pool at the Mission Family Aquatic Center will be open for lap swimmers. The natatorium will be repainted during the annual maintenance, the hot tub will be retiled and the sauna will be replaced. Hours for the outdoor pool can be found here.

Blood drive to be held at Village Presbyterian Tuesday. The Community Blood Center will be holding a drive at Village Presbyterian tomorrow from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Walk-ins are welcome. The drive will be in rooms 132 and 133.
