Coffee shop caper unfolds at Twisted Sisters in Mission: who is leaving the mystery items?

The model ship was the first to appear. The TV behind it also was left by the mystery guest. The pink panther is on the case, though.

Call it the “Case of the Coffee Shop Appearances.” A mystery has been unfolding at Twisted Sisters Coffee Shop over the last few weeks where curious items appear every few days. Where they came from and who left them is the mystery.

Before the mystery guest began dropping off items, Twisted Sisters had its share of curiosities around: a small panda, a large pair of ruby red high heels, a cupboard full of nicknacks, even a bicycle that sits near the ceiling.

Now new items have begun to appear and some of them would be hard to smuggle in without drawing attention. A model ship, a miniature television, a small chimenea are among the pieces that would hardly fit in a pocket. Others are some motorcycles, a VW van and a Coke machine – all toy size. A couple more souvenir-type items were found Wednesday on a shelf.

Twisted Sisters proprietor Sandi Russell has used the shop’s Facebook account to have some fun with the mystery. Using a pink panther that already was among the collectibles in the store, she has posted pictures of the panther with newly discovered items – supposedly on the case of solving the mystery.

Russell says no one has noticed the anybody bringing in one of the pieces or placing it. They just appear. The ship was the first, but now every few days, something new pops up.

Eventually, the pink panther will crack the case.

Some other items left behind are smaller, such as the toy VW bus.
