Northeast Johnson County morning roundup

Major car wreck started at 95th Street and Mission Road. Overland Park police spent much of the evening sorting out an accident that included an early — an inaccurate — report that gunfire might have been involved. A car was traveling at high speed at 95th and Mission Road when it struck a car, but continued south on Mission to 103rd Street, where it struck four more. The driver of the car that struck the others was transferred to the hospital with life threatening injuries, according to Overland Park Police. Second water main break slows traffic on Shawnee Mission Parkway. On Friday, a water main break in Fairway along Shawnee Mission Parkway forced police to redirect traffic along the thoroughfare during rush hour. On Monday, it was very nearly the same story. A second water main break led to the reduction of traffic to one lane in either direction during the afternoon hours. Police Chief Mike Fleming sent a message to the media noting that the water main breaks along Shawnee Mission Parkway tend to come in pairs for whatever reason.
